Brow Lift
The brow is one of the first areas that begins to show signs of aging. When skin begins to sag and fold, it can make you look more tired or frustrated than you really feel. The brow lift is one of the best ways to refresh the upper face and eliminate deep creases.
What is a Brow Lift?
A brow lift is a facial plastic surgery procedure that lifts and tightens the skin of the forehead and brows. There are two different techniques used during a brow lift, including:
- Endoscopic brow lift
- Coronal (traditional) brow lift
The endoscopic brow lift is best for patients who need less correction and want smaller incisions. Alternatively, the traditional brow lift uses larger incisions but can achieve more extensive correction. Your plastic surgeon will discuss the benefits of each during your consultation.
Who’s a Good Candidate for a Brow Lift?
Good candidates for a brow lift are healthy patients who have sagging and aging signs in the upper face that don’t respond to non-surgical treatments like BOTOX®. Brow lift patients may sometimes be good candidates for eyelid surgery and vice versa – it’s also commonly combined with a facelift for more comprehensive rejuvenation. Because the brow lift uses incisions along the hairline, your plastic surgeon will assess how best to conceal scarring while still maintaining your natural look.
What Happens During a Brow Lift?
A brow lift can be performed using either general anesthesia or sedation combined with local anesthesia depending on your needs. Your plastic surgeon will perform the appropriate incisions to gain access to the underlying muscles and tissues of the brow. With endoscopic surgery, your plastic surgeon will perform the procedure using an endoscope, or a specialized wand with a live-feed camera. The tissues are tightened and lifted, and any excess skin is removed. Once complete, your plastic surgeon will close the incisions and you can return home.
Brow Lift Results and Recovery
Brow lift recovery usually requires 1-2 weeks away from work and activities. It’s important to keep your head elevated while resting and sleeping to prevent blood accumulation and swelling. You’ll be given aftercare instructions by our team detailing the use of ice packs, prescription medications, and bathing. Swelling can last for around 1 month and you can return to your regular activities at your plastic surgeon’s discretion. Keep in mind that the brow lift does not stop the process of aging, but rather rewinds it. You can prevent the need for another procedure by practicing good anti-aging skincare and non-surgical cosmetic treatments.
