Chemical Peel

Natural beauty Chemical peels are a very popular anti-aging option. Sun exposure, acne and age can leave your skin tone uneven, wrinkled, spotted or scarred. We recommend a chemical peel for our patients who want skin to look smoother, more even and younger, but do not need more advanced anti-aging treatments like laser skin resurfacing.

A chemical peel, also called chemexfoliation or derma peeling, is one of the simplest and least invasive ways to improve the appearance of your skin. All chemical peels, regardless of strength, use a solution to smooth the texture of your skin by removing the damaged outer layers. Although it is mostly thought of as a facial treatment, you can also treat the skin on your neck and hands.

Chemical peels vary in levels of strength. In general, the stronger the chemical, the deeper the peel and the more impressive the results. However, the deeper the peel, the more pain you’re likely to experience and the longer the recovery time will be. The amount of time required for application also varies. For example, a light peel which you might use for maintenance can be applied in 20-30 minutes and with little to no post-treatment downtime. A full-face and neck deep chemical peel may take as long as 1-2 hours to perform.

With all chemical peels, our staff will clean your skin and apply a solution to the area to be treated (avoiding the eyes, brows and lips). There may be a slight burning sensation depending on the peel, but it is typically minimal. Some solutions also act as an anesthetic. After the peel solution has worked on the skin, some require the application of a neutralizing agent while others, such at the VI Peel, do not.

In addition to being non-invasive, chemical peels are one of the most cost effective anti-aging treatments available. They will strip away some fine lines and wrinkles, age spots, sun spots and more. In addition, a proactive program of chemical peels can help prevent the signs of aging and can help treat acne in teenagers.

Because your individual needs will determine the strength of the peel, we highly recommend consulting with us about your goals and vision so that we can help you make the right choice.
